just like me
he's a gadgets man
he'd fiddle with the video
every weekend
flicking through the channels
while flicking ash
into his beer can
he'd curse at it
lyrically
like a song
you feckin' heap of crap!
he'd say
do you see this son?
never buy a gadget
without its
brand name on!
he'd decide to take it apart
he'd start with the outer casing
side panels
then the circuits
wires and diodes
which he'd lay out on the floor
he never used a screwdriver
he swore by the butterknife
just one memory
of my dad back then
the gadgets man
who gave me life...
